April Ross
April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball players to have won medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix klineman, who is competing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics, will try to earn her third Olympic medal. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic gold medal. As she is 39 and has a long way to go, this could be her final chance. But she's convinced that winning the gold medal is within reach. Ross was reported on NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very highest, and even play well we will get the gold. Therefore, I'm hoping to have some luck also. Ross born August 22, 1982, located in Costa Mesa California. She resided there with her family. Apart from participating in a variety of sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. Being a pre-athlete she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. However, she was a standout during this game. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter at the tennis court as per her college bio. For her efforts, she was honored as in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her for volleyball. Ross is working with Klineman from 2017 but her beach game was established well before this. In reality, she's won multiple big tournaments as well as one of her partners was a renowned volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, between 2007 and the year 2013. She also coached Klineman and herself. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who won the world title alongside Kessy in 2009, also was an important player on the an international level. The 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded the gold medal. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team along with Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross began her college career with the USC Trojans in her high school days. It was a long time before Ross went to the beach, and then became a pro. Her time at the school was a memorable one. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she earned Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year accolades. She also was an All-American. Additionally, she was an integral player in helping the Trojans make the Final Four. In her sophomore season she suffered a devastating personal loss and still was able to be named an All-American. Over her final two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the summit netting three consecutive championships at the national level. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time great by winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross who was a USC international relations student, was a star in volleyball. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie did not get to see Ross rise to the top levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross lost the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. However, she keeps her parents close to her heart. And Margie remains a source of motivation for her at the beaches and throughout her daily life.
